The New York Jets avoided the worst-case scenario with running back Michael Carter earlier on this week. After having to leave Sunday’s 31-10 win with an ankle injury, Carter was ruled with a low-ankle sprain as opposed to a high.

As a result, earlier on in the week, head coach Robert Saleh declared Carter “day-to-day,” and he was listed as questionable for the entire week. Even with that status, Saleh stated that Carter would have a chance to go in Minnesota by saying, “we’re gonna give it a try for this week.”

New York Jets RB Michael Carter now “doubtful” for Sunday:

Unfortunately, the Jets’ top running back and emotional team leader seems unlikely to go for Week 13. Saleh shared that the second-year player is doubtful for this week’s matchup with the Vikings.

If so, it will lead to the three running backs for this one being James Robinson, Zonovan “Bam” Knight, and Ty Johnson.

In other news, with offensive tackle George Fant, Saleh said, “It’s a possibility, we’ll see” when it comes to activating him.

Also, at offensive tackle, Cedric Ogbuehi (groin) will be doubtful for this one, too after not participating in either of the last two days of practice. If he does not go, it will lead to the second-straight game for Max Mitchell playing at right tackle.

Along with Sheldon Rankins’ return, Kenny Yeboah (calf) will be back available for this game as well. He returned to practice Thursday as a full participant.

The lone player to this point to be ruled out for this one is safety Ashtyn Davis (hamstring), who did not practice Wednesday or Thursday.
