As the National Football League world focused upon the schedule release, the New York Jets made two personnel moves in the trenches.

Gang Green officially announced the signing of defensive tackle Al Woods, who was reported to have reached a one-year agreement earlier this month. The 6-foot-4 Woods was scheduled to make a free-agent visit with the Jets in early April.

While adding Woods, the Green & White reportedly released recently re-signed offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi per Field Yates. Fourth-round draft pick Carter Warren and veteran Billy Turner pushed Ogbuehi further down the depth chart where he was already behind Duane Brown, Mekhi Becton and Max Mitchell.

The 36-year old Woods gives the Jets a battle-tested road block on the defensive front. Playing for Seattle, Woods started 30 of a possible 34 games the last two seasons. In 2022, he accounted for 39 combined stops and 2.0 sacks over 14 starts.

Woods has logged 155 career appearances, including 78 starts. The 330-pound boulder can fit into multiple spots up front and has experience in a true nose tackle role from his days in Tennessee. He joins a defensive tackles' room that features All-Pro Quinnen Williams, veteran Solomon Thomas and free-agent signee Quinton Jefferson.

The 6-foot-5 Ogbuehi, a reserve tackle, started five games after Gang Green claimed him off the Houston Texans’ Practice Squad late last September. He made his first Jets start against New England in Week 8. The Cincinnati Bengals’ former first-round pick served a four-week stint on injured reserve last December due to a groin.
