Jets offense averaged 2.7 inches per play in second half vs. Patriots

The New York Jets were terrible on offense against the New England Patriots this past weekend. They were so bad, in fact, that all of their production in the second half of the 10-3 loss can be measured with a ruler.

No, this isn't a trick question on a high school math test. This is the cold, hard, truth about New York's performance against the Patriots.

The Jets averaged a measly 2.7 inches per play in the second half against New England. And no, you didn't read that wrong.

The Jets averaging 2.7 yards would have been bad, but at least the ball would have moved a bit. We're talking about inches here.

Let's do some math.

There are 36 inches in one yard, which means that -- at their terrible offensive pace -- it would have taken the Jets 13 plays to go just one yard. They ended the second half with two yards, which means they ended up running 26 plays in the second half.

They ran 26 plays for two total yards...or 2.7 inches per play.
No wonder head coach Robert Saleh wouldn't commit to quarterback Zach Wilson moving forward. No wonder he called the second-half offense "dog s***."
