Jets RB James Robinson 'upset' about being healthy scratch vs. Bears

New York Jets running back James Robinson is displeased he was a healthy scratch for this past Sunday's 31-10 win over the Chicago Bears.

"Obviously, I didn't come here not to play," Robinson told ESPN's Rich Cimini on Wednesday. "Obviously, they brought me here for a reason. I don't expect anything unless I work for it, and I've been working my a-- off. Me not playing p----- me off."

Robinson joined the Jets from the Jacksonville Jaguars via a trade on Oct. 24 after Gang Green lost star rookie Breece Hall to a torn ACL in the Week 7 win over the Denver Broncos. The 24-year-old has since appeared in three games and tallied 75 rushing yards on 25 carries to go along with two receptions, one of which was for a touchdown.

Robinson had 415 total rushing yards this season when he was told he'd be inactive against Chicago. Cimini pointed out that's noteworthy because the draft pick the Jets sent the Jaguars in the trade goes from a 2023 conditional sixth-round selection to a fifth-round choice if Robinson gets to at least 600 rushing yards on the campaign.

"Obviously, I was upset about it," Robinson added about not being active against the Bears. "I don't know what they have planned for me."

Meanwhile, rookie Zonovan Knight led the Jets with 69 rushing yards versus Chicago. He also contributed 34 receiving yards.

One would assume Jets head coach Robert Saleh isn't worrying about the value of a future late-round draft pick regarding roster decisions with his team at 7-4 heading into this Sunday's showdown at the 9-2 Minnesota Vikings. While Saleh has thus far done well to handle any potential drama linked with the status of quarterback Zach Wilson, the staff should wish to avoid any further unnecessary distractions as the Jets continue their pursuit of at least a playoff berth.

As for Robinson, he could again be inactive for the Minnesota game.
