Jets reportedly plan to grant WR Denzel Mims' trade request
The New York Jets are open to dealing Denzel Mims and plan on granting the trade request of the wide receiver, according to Connor Hughes of SNY. That doesn't mean a trade is imminent, though.
New York reportedly likes having Mims as a part of its wide receiving corps and won't "give him away." It'll take a lot for the Jets to part with their 2020 second-round pick, despite Mims catching only 31 passes in his first two seasons with the team.
The lack of production from Mims coupled with the Jets' high expectations of a return in a trade could make a deal difficult to piece together. So it's not too surprising that the receiver was back at practice Friday morning, less than 24 hours after his request, working with special teams.
Still, Mims has already drawn some interest. According to Joe Person of The Athletic, the Carolina Panthers inquired about what it would cost to acquire the receiver.
Carolina doesn't have much receiving depth behind starters D.J. Moore and Robbie Anderson. The Jets spent the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft on wide receiver Garrett Wilson, adding him to corps that also features Corey Davis and Elijah Moore.
