Jets' Robert Saleh has received advice, suggestions from mother

New York Jets first-year head coach Robert Saleh dropped his official Gang Green debut at the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 12 and then watched from the sidelines as rookie quarterback Zach Wilson tossed four interceptions in a Week 2 25-6 loss to the New England Patriots.

Saleh probably expected to hear criticisms and even suggestions from members of the New York media, but he said Wednesday that he's received some unrequested assistance from his own mom.

"She’ll probably kill me — God bless my mother," Saleh explained, per Dennis Waszak Jr. of The Associated Press. "Broken English, doesn’t even know how many yards it takes to get a first down and she was coaching me up on what we should tell our receivers."

Saleh continued that he couldn't "remember" what his mother had to say about New York's pass-catchers.

"Everybody’s got an opinion, but you know what? I had an opinion, too," he added. "You take it with a grain of salt, but I’m not afraid to absorb all the information because you never know what you might find. All of it’s worth something."

Things get no easier for Saleh and company before September ends, as the Jets will hit the road to play at the 2-0 Denver Broncos this weekend. One piece of good news, though, is that Wilson was a full participant in practice Wednesday after he came off the New England contest with a groin issue. He is on track to start in Denver.
