Jets rookie WR Garrett Wilson makes wild claim about unnamed NFL referee

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson made a claim against an unnamed NFL referee in a tweet on Monday morning while expressing frustration over the way he's been officiated this season.

According to Pro Football Reference, the game in question occurred on Oct. 30 and the officials for the contest were Shawn Smith, Bryan Neale, Mark Hittner, Michael Dolce, Dino Paganelli, Clay Reynard and Dyrol Prioleau. The Jets fell to the Patriots 22-17 that day and Wilson finished the game with six receptions for 115 yards on seven targets.

Wilson spent three seasons at Ohio St. from 2019 through 2021, finishing second in the Big Ten in receiving touchdowns (12) last season. The rookie was selected 10th overall by the Jets in the 2022 NFL Draft and has been the best receiving option on the New York offense.

Wilson leads the Jets across the board in targets (101), receptions (63), receiving yards (868) and receiving touchdowns (four). The 22-year-old has been on a heater since the late-October loss against New England, recording at least five catches and 78 yards in five of the last six games, including a career-high 162 yards with eight receptions in the Week 13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Wilson's numbers have come despite inconsistent play from an array of starting quarterbacks from "Gang Green." Second-year pro Zach Wilson has played in seven games, while Joe Flacco has appeared in four contests and Mike White has started each of the last three tilts.

The former Buckeyes wideout is one of the Offensive Rookie of the Year frontrunners, along with Kenneth Walker III, Christian Watson and Chris Olave.
