Jets' Sauce Gardner tweets supportive message for Will Levis

Among the most surprising results from the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday night was quarterback Will Levis not being selected.

New York Jets cornerback Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner tweeted an encouraging message at the end of the night for the former Kentucky Wildcat signal-caller.

Levis was widely expected not only to be picked on Day 1 but likely to go inside the top 10 selections, if not the top five. There were some questions surrounding the 23-year-old's on-field decision-making though, highlighted by his 23 interceptions over the last two seasons.

Levis finished last year with a 65.4% completion percentage for 2,406 passing yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He led the SEC in picks (13) during the 2021 campaign and was third in the conference last season.

It was also reported that some teams had concerns over Levis' "personality," leading to his slide out of the opening round.

Unlike Levis, Gardner didn't have to wait long during last year's draft, as he was selected fourth overall by the Jets.

The 23-year-old immediately established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the game, recording a league-leading 20 passes defended while earning a Pro Bowl honor and first-team All-Pro and being named the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year.
