Jets WR Elijah Moore excused from practice days after controversial tweet

It appears things between the New York Jets and wide receiver Elijah Moore may not be all sunshine and rainbows heading into Sunday's game at the 2-4 Denver Broncos.

ESPN's Rich Cimini reports that Moore was excused from practice Thursday. Head coach Robert Saleh informed reporters the 22-year-old was dealing with "a family issue," but one source told Cimini that "Moore's absence was more football-related" and that the receiver "has expressed unhappiness to members of the organization."

Moore took to social media before Thursday's developments went public:

Moore raised eyebrows earlier this week when he used Twitter to seemingly complain about not seeing a single target during this past Sunday's victory at the Green Bay Packers that improved the Jets to 4-2.

"If I say what I really wanna say ... I'll be the selfish guy... we winning," Moore wrote in a since-deleted tweet. "Grateful! Huge blessing! All I ever wanted. Butter [sic] sweet for me em but I'll be solid. So I'll just stay quiet Just know I don't understand either."

Saleh insisted Monday he had "no problem" with Moore following the tweet, and offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur addressed the potential controversy on Thursday.

"We've had open dialogues," LaFleur explained about the situation. "We're going to keep it in-house."

Thus far this season, Moore has 16 catches for 203 yards and zero touchdowns across six games.

"We want those guys to be ultracompetitive and want the ball," LaFleur added about New York's receivers. "We're going to do what we feel is best to score points and win football games and he's a big part of that."

It's unclear if Moore will feature against Denver this Sunday.
