Could Tom Brady have ended up in Indy? Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Jim Irsay: Colts had interest in signing Tom Brady for 2020 season

Seeing Tom Brady in an Indianapolis Colts uniform would have been weird. Especially because of the Deflategate scandal from the 2014 AFC Championship Game. Still, Colts owner Jim Irsay considered bringing in the six-time Super Bowl champion for the 2020 season.

Irsay revealed Wednesday that the Colts thought about signing Brady before agreeing to a deal with Philip Rivers. Indianapolis ultimately decided on Rivers because of his familiarity with head coach Frank Reich, whom he worked with while playing for the Los Angeles Chargers.

Brady would've likely helped Indy get past the first round of the playoffs. However, it's hard to tell how far the team would've gone beyond that.

In Tampa Bay, Brady has a full set of offensive weapons that the Colts just don't have. The 43-year-old has developed great connections with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown, Scotty Miller and Rob Gronkowski.

It's unclear if Brady would have even considered signing with the Colts. His top two destinations were reportedly Tampa Bay and Los Angeles, which are both warm-weather cities. The veteran quarterback also sold his properties in the Northeast after parting ways with the New England Patriots, so it seems he has no desire to play in a cold-weather location like Indianapolis.
