Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray recently stirred up the seas with some questionable social media behavior.

The first overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft scrubbed his Twitter and Instagram platforms, unfollowing the Cardinals on both accounts in the process. His Instagram was left with just two photos: one from the 2022 Pro Bowl and the second from three years ago when he won the Heisman Trophy at Oklahoma.

Some have speculated that Murray is angling for an extension from the Cardinals, who responded to the drama in hilarious fashion.

Shortly after Murray’s social media cleansing, the Cardinals opted to do the very same thing. They, too, scrubbed their Instagram of all but two photos: one being the same image of Murray at the 2022 Pro Bowl and the other being a photo of Murray on Draft Day holding up his Cardinals jersey.

The organization later restored their catalog of Instagram photos, saying they were “just having a little fun with the bosses away, Red Sea.”

Cardinals defensive lineman J.J. Watt also decided to get in on the action himself. But rather than scrubbing his social media accounts, he posted a humorous video questioning why Murray refuses to answer him on FaceTime.

Leave it to Watt to add a little levity to a situation that has Cardinals fans concerned for the future.

Whatever the reason for Murray’s social media antics, those in the know seem to be unaffected by it all. In fact, they’ve used it as an opportunity to poke a little fun at those they feel are reading a bit too much into things.
