Joe Buck willing to help Tom Brady with career change

It was previously learned that ESPN "Monday Night Football" announcers Joe Buck and Troy Aikman were willing to help retired quarterback Tom Brady prepare to become Fox's lead NFL analyst beginning next season.

Buck touched upon the subject during the latest edition of "The Marchand and Ourand Sports Media Podcast."

"I know that he’s talked to Troy about it, he’s talked to intermediaries about maybe getting with me and having me help him, which I’m totally open to doing and would love to do," Buck said about Brady, as shared by Brandon Contes of Awful Announcing.

As recently as during this week's episode of his "Let's Go!" SiriusXM show and podcast, Brady seemed to put to bed any talk that he could back out of the 10-year deal reportedly worth $375M he received from Fox following the 2021 NFL season even though he's still looking to become a limited partner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

On Tuesday, Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports reported that sources told him that "Fox brass would be happy to get a season or two out of (Brady) before he sails off into the ranks of NFL owners." Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio mentioned on Dec. 16 that "Brady’s effort to purchase a significant piece" of the Raiders remained unapproved by other owners at that time.

"I hope to God he does it," Buck said about Brady becoming a full-time broadcaster. "I think it will be fascinating. I think he’ll be great, but you still gotta go do it."

While Brady may joke about returning to play for one more season, he reportedly spent much of the 2023 campaign studying broadcasts to learn what he wants and does not want to be as a live on-air personality. Buck noted that the seven-time Super Bowl champion must embrace "a new way of thinking about a game," and few could teach Brady more about that aspect of the gig than the "MNF" play-by-play man.
