Former Alabama receiver John Metchie III appears set to make his NFL debut this weekend after a battle with cancer. The Houston Texans receiver is not listed on the Texans injury report for this weekend’s game against the Colts.

Metchie missed the season opener against the Ravens last weekend with a hamstring injury.

He missed all of his rookie season in 2022 after a battle with cancer, before being cleared to return this summer.

“John’s ready to go,” Texans general manager Nick Caserio said over the summer. “He had a little bit of set back there in the spring, but he’s clear. He’s ready to practice.”
