Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

The Jordan Love contract extension was one that was good for both sides. The Green Bay Packers were hesitant to give Love a long-term deal because of the lack of playing time but he also deserved some commitment from the team. The contract is the best of both worlds and gives Love two years to prove he can be the future quarterback. While we knew the general outline of the agreement, the details were released this morning.

Jordan Love Contract Details Released

The signing bonus is just over $8.7 million for the Jordan Love contract. For 2023, his base salary is $1.01 million which is fully guaranteed. He has $9 million dollars in incentives which are tied to how well the team does this year. The escalators were not revealed but most likely it has to do with how far the team goes in the playoffs and/or a certain amount of stats that lead to individual awards. For 2024, a $500,000 workout bonus is paired with a fully guaranteed $5.5 million salary. The total guarantees are $15.3 million with the max this contract can be at $24.8 million.

A Fair Deal For Both Sides

Love gets a nice payday and some commitment from the team. He has two years to show that the last three years of sitting behind Aaron Rodgers have been worth it. He also can get a healthy payday for being above average. Even if he stinks in 2023, he has some guaranteed money in 2024. The Packers seem confident that Love is ready to start. The roster is young and full of exciting new pieces. No one is expecting for love to be Rodgers or Brett Favre but this league has shown that mediocre to good quarterback play can lead to success.

The Jordan Love contract is great for both sides. This year is going to be fun. Gone is the drama surrounding Rodgers and now fans can focus on a fun, young, up-and-coming team that could shock some people in 2023.
