Jordan Love: 'Sky's the limit' for Packers offense

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love recently revealed the sky-high expectations he has for the offense this season, which will be his first as the starting signal-caller.

"I think we’ve got playmakers on offense. I think all the weapons we have at receiver, tight end and running back, we’ve got guys who can make plays," Love said, per Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal. "I think once everybody gets rolling, gets comfortable with the offense and being where they need to be every play, the sky’s the limit for us."

The Packers used their first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to select Love at 26th overall, but he's only taken 157 career snaps and made one start since then. Love didn't see the field in 2020 behind four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers and got his most playing time in 2021, appearing in six games and making one start, going 36-for-62 for 411 passing yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

The 24-year-old played in only four games last season and went 14-for-21 for 195 passing yards and one touchdown.

The only established star on Green Bay's projected offense is one-time Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones, who finished the 2022 campaign with career highs in rushing yards (1,121) and receptions (59), while posting the sixth-best yards per carry (5.3) in the NFL and recording 395 receiving yards and five scores through the air. 

AJ Dillon is one of the better backup running backs in the game, with over 1,500 rushing yards and 12 rushing scores in the last two seasons combined.

With Allen Lazard joining Rodgers and the New York Jets in the offseason, promising second-year pro Christian Watson takes over the Packers receivers group as the clear alpha wideout. Watson had a solid 41 catches for 611 yards and seven touchdowns last year, with most of his damage coming in the second half of the season.

The majority of Watson's playing time came with Rodgers under center, however, so it's too early to tell how Love and Watson will connect once the games start counting in the standings.

Outside of Watson, the Green Bay receiving options are shaky and inexperienced, with Romeo Doubs (42 receptions, 425 receiving yards, three touchdowns last season) and rookie Jayden Reed as the other projected starting wide receivers. Another rookie, second-round pick Luke Musgrave, is slated to be the team's starting tight end in Week 1.
