Josh Allen admits he's the reason Bills lost to Jets

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has the ability to make some of the most electric plays in the NFL with his arm and his legs. However, Allen also has a continuous track record of shooting his team in the foot with reckless play. Allen has been a turnover machine in his career, and that continued on "Monday Night Football" with the Bills losing to the New York Jets in overtime.

In the 22-16 defeat Allen was 29-of-41 for 236 yard with one touchdown, three interceptions and one fumble.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott said this offseason that Allen was adjusting his style "to play smarter", but his showing on Monday was another careless effort.

"I hurt our team tonight. I cost our team tonight," Allen said

Allen has turned the ball over 84 times since he was drafted in 2018, which leads the NFL in the timespan.

"It sucks when you feel like you're the reason," Allen acknowledged. "I am the reason we lost tonight." Turnovers have characterized Allen's career.

McDermott noted that Allen is more than capable of taking care of the football, but his track record says otherwise. At some point Josh Allen is who he is -- a talented quarterback that does great things but also hurts his team with porous decisions.

Allen said it's not like he's going out there and trying to throw interceptions, which means he needs to try harder not to throw them in the first place. Allen's interceptions weren't of the borderline variety, they were all flat out bad, and to the same Jets defender in Jordan Whitehead.

Allen and the Bills next test comes at home against a Las Vegas Raiders team that won their Week 1 tilt against the Denver Broncos. Per OddsChecker, the Bills are currently a nine-point favorite.
