Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs engaged in a mutual admiration society this week, and both players are clearly champing at the bit over joining forces on the field next season.
The Allen-Diggs’ Buffalo Bills bromance started with Diggs effusively praising the quarterback’s skills in video shared by the team on Twitter.
Allen then responded in kind during an interview with Adam Schein on Mad Dog Sports Radio.
“I’m still pumped about it,” Allen said, via New York Upstate. “I’m still floating on cloud nine right now. I just can’t wait to get to work with him. Obviously with all this stuff going around, traveling and trying to get in touch, start throwing with him, that’s going to be a little delayed. I just want to get back to work. We’ve been staying in contact and trying to devise a plan of how we can get together.
“But man, the things he can do on a football field are unbelievable. The route running. The way he can make contested catches. I’ve talked to him on the phone a couple times and just how cool of a dude he seems. He’s going to match in very well with our wide receiver group, he’s going to match within our locker room and with our team. Big-time playmaker. He’s going to help us out a lot this year.”
The Bills’ acquisition of Diggs unquestionably gives the team a needed infusion of talent in the passing game and will certainly help Allen’s continued development.
Diggs arrives in Buffalo following a five-year career with the Minnesota Vikings that concluded with 365 receptions for 4,623 yards and 30 touchdowns across 70 games. One of the best route-runners and most dangerous deep threats in the NFL, it’s understandable that Allen is thrilled over the notion of having Diggs lining up on the outside.
And for Diggs? Given his obvious unhappiness in Minnesota, the change of scenery will presumably serve him well.
