Josh Gordon to make debut for receiver-needy Titans

The Josh Gordon comeback tour is ready for its Music City debut.

The longtime NFL wide receiver has been elevated from the Tennessee Titans' practice squad ahead of the team's Monday night road clash against Buffalo.

Gordon has flashed tantalizing potential, but he has never been able to match his 1,646-yard, nine-touchdown 2013 season with the Cleveland Browns in part due to several suspensions for violating the league's substance abuse policies.

Gordon spent 2021 with the Kansas City Chiefs, catching one TD pass and tallying 32 yards receiving in 12 games.

He could see much more action for the Titans, which traded star wideout A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason and released former star Julio Jones after a one-year trial.

Tennessee has only one proven veteran in its wide receiver corps, former Los Angeles Ram Robert Woods. The receiving group also includes young players Treylon Burks, Kyle Philips, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Cody Hollister. Gordon at least provides the experience those green receivers lack.

In Week 1, the Titans dropped a heart-breaker to the Giants, 21-20. Perhaps Gordon can help ignite the offense, which Tennessee will need against the vaunted Bills.
