Josh McDaniels addresses Tom Brady buying minority stake in Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels sounds ready to welcome retired quarterback Tom Brady as a limited partner of the organization with open arms. 

"I think everybody knows how I feel about Tom the person," McDaniels told reporters, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "So, if that comes to fruition, obviously I’ll be incredibly excited about just him being somebody that’s in Raider Nation and has a vested interest in us doing as well as we can do in trying to bring a championship football team here to Vegas." 

McDaniels spent multiple stints as Brady's coach and offensive coordinator while with the New England Patriots, and it was said this past March that the seven-time Super Bowl champion "was able to bully" McDaniels in New England. Whatever did or didn't happen between the two, McDaniels indicated they now enjoy at least a pleasant relationship. 

"So I don’t know exactly where all that stands," McDaniels added about Brady receiving the necessary approval to purchase a minority share of the Raiders. "I think that’s a question that’s way above my pay grade in terms of that stuff. But, obviously, [I] had a great history with the player and an even better one with the person. So it’ll obviously be a tremendous honor to partner up with him again." 

Brady is already forever associated with the Raiders thanks to the 2001 AFC divisional playoff contest now known as "The Tuck Rule Game." McDaniels joked that Brady will "100 percent" have to admit that he fumbled the football away on that fateful day to become a minority owner of the Raiders, but the coach may have forgotten that the future Hall of Famer has already acknowledged he probably coughed the ball up on the historic play. 

It's also worth noting that Brady hasn't fully committed to remaining retired as new Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo recovers from foot surgery. Perhaps McDaniels believes he hasn't yet coached his last game with Brady serving as his QB1.
