After their Week One loss to the Washington Commanders, quarterback Joshua Dobbs expressed that fans should anticipate a “night and day” transformation in the Cardinals’ offense.
Which, he was not entirely wrong on.
Against the Giants on Sunday, Arizona jumped out to an early 20-0 first half lead as they headed into the tunnel feeling unstoppable.
By the close of the second quarter, Dobbs had completed 12 of 16 passes for 146 yards, in addition to rushing for 41 yards and a touchdown.
However, it was truly a tale of two halves.
Following one last touchdown early in the 3rd quarter, the Cardinals punted on three straight drives, ultimately leading to a 28-7 blown lead.
Dobbs threw for less than 60 yards in the second half despite adding on 16 more passes. His average yards per attempt dropped below 4, and he ceased to gain any more rushing yards after the second quarter.
Between their first two games of the season, the Cardinals have been outscored 27-0 in the fourth quarter.
In response, Joshua Dobbs pointed out that the offense is close to where it needs to be, but it now comes down to finishing.
Despite the setbacks, Dobbs remains optimistic.
Next Sunday, the Cardinals will face off against the Dallas Cowboys, who have already outscored their opponents by a staggering 60 points this season, leading the league by a significant margin.
