Julian Edelman endorses Cam Newton signing: 'Let's work'

Julian Edelman has voiced his support for the Patriots signing Cam Newton on Twitter, posting a Photoshopped photo of the two in New England uniforms with a simple message: #letswork.

Edelman has been the Patriots' most consistent receiver over the last several seasons, receiving 1,117 yards and six touchdowns for the team last year. He was known for his close relationship with Tom Brady but he makes it clear he is more than ready to team up with Newton.

Newton was once considered one of the best young quarterbacks in the league, winning the MVP and leading the Panthers to the Super Bowl in the 2015 season. However, in the four seasons since, Newton hasn't passed for 25 touchdowns and has only passed for 3,500 yards once. Now, he will have the chance to get his career back on track and if he succeeds, he will likely need to create a strong connection with Edelman.

While we will only really know if Newton and the Patriots are a good pairing when he hits the field, former Patriots receiver Randy Moss gave his full endorsement of the Panthers quarterback joining the team.

"I think we are really getting ready to see how fun that offense can really be," Moss said . "Not discrediting anything Tom accomplished because he accomplished some great things, but I think being able to have a guy like Cam Newton that can run the ball, they are able to spread guys out, and then being able to be that viable threat in the passing game that he can just tuck the ball and run."
