Justin Fields reveals why he unfollowed Bears on social media

Rumors continue to circulate about QB Justin Fields' future in Chicago and they only got louder after it was revealed that he unfollowed the Bears on Instagram this week.

However, the No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft thinks everyone is overreacting to his recent unfollow.

"Why do people take social media so serious? ... I still mess with the Bears. I'm just tryna take a little break," Fields said on "The 33rd Team" podcast. "I unfollowed the Bears and the NFL. I'm just tryna not have football on my timeline. ... It's something that I don't want to see on my timeline. I'm about to go on vacation. I don't want to see no football."

Clearly, Fields unfollowing the Bears doesn't give any more insight into whichever way Chicago is leaning in its decision between sticking with Fields or trading him and drafting USC QB Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

But he is frustrated with the whole situation, as he revealed on the podcast.

"It's either keep Fields. We want Fields. It's either draft Caleb," Fields added. "Man, I'm tired of hearing the talk. I just want it to be over."

Unfortunately for Fields, he likely still has a little more time until the Bears officially decide to trade him or not. The team will likely wait until after it gets a closer look at this year's rookie class at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, which begins next week.

Fields does have a good case after throwing for 4,804 yards and 33 touchdowns and rushing for 1,800 yards and 12 touchdowns from 2022-23.

But so does Williams. The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner has thrown for 8,170 yards, 72 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions from 2022-23.

Only time will tell what Chicago will decide to do. But Fields is just trying to take a break from all the noise as his football future is hopefully decided sooner rather than later.
