The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine is coming to an end, and we may have witnessed a future Charger (or seven) in the process.

The combine is an opportunity for players to boost their stock and for teams to get to know the NFL prospects. It's a big deal for all parties, especially players fighting to be one of the 200-plus players selected.

Most players who have played in the NFL have participated in the combine, including Bolts' star quarterback, Justin Herbert. Herbert was once a prospect who participated in the combine and did his best to get on a team's radar. Indeed, he made an impression on the Bolts, and four years later, Herbert is right where he belongs.

However, before he became the second highest-paid player in NFL history, there were some doubts about his game and character. In a recent interview with former teammate Chase Daniel on his podcast "Chasin' It" alongside Trey Wingo, Herbert reflected on the combine and debunked any concerns teams had about him at the time.

“I really didn’t listen too much of it. I think I did my best to just go and be myself. Especially at the combine and the senior bowl I had the opportunity to be genuine, and show teams this is who I am and this is what I’m about. I wouldn’t say I’m too quiet I think I talk too much sometimes. I do love football that’s the only sport I’ve ever wanted to play.”

Back in 2020, the concerns about Herbert were that he did not have a lot of vision and he was not really a good playmaker. Clearly, he's debunked those two concerns.

Herbert is a talent like none other, and when healthy, he's possibly the most talented quarterback in the league. Throughout his four-year career, he's made countless plays for the betterment of the team. As he enters year five, he will only improve in this new era of Charger football.

The excitement surrounding the team and Herbert is palpable. As we've learned year after year, NFL scouts get it wrong sometimes, and they certainly did get it wrong with Herbert.
