New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara rushed for two touchdowns in his team's 33-28 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. In doing so, Kamara passed RB Mark Ingram II as the franchise's all-time leader in career rushing touchdowns. He now has 53 rushing scores over his seven NFL seasons, including four this year. Ingram's 52 touchdowns on the ground came over 10 seasons with New Orleans.

Kamara now has 5,643 career rushing yards to go along with his 53 scores on the ground. He's just 454 rushing yards away from passing Deuce McAllister for second place on the Saints career rushing list. Ingram holds the top spot with 6,500 rushing yards. Kamara has 508 yards on the ground in nine games this season. He has at least 728 rushing yards in all of his previous six seasons, with a career-best of 932 yards in 2020.

Earlier this season, Kamara passed WR Marques Colston (72) as the franchise's career leader in total touchdowns. He currently sits at 77 total touchdowns and is also the team's career leader with seven successful 2-point conversions. His 9,809 yards from scrimmage is also the best in team history.

Kamara is already the Saints all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns for a running back. He has 490 catches for 4,166 yards and 23 scores through the air. He's also poised to move up the franchise's career receiving list among all players.

Kamara is currently ninth in career receiving yards. He's just 116 yards from passing WR Lance Moore and 211 yards from passing WR Devery Henderson to grab seventh place. At fifth place in franchise history for career receptions, Kamara needs 34 catches to surpass WR Joe Horn for fourth and 43 to pass WR Eric Martin for third behind only Colston (711) and current teammate Michael Thomas (565). With five receiving scores, Kamara would vault past WRs Quinn Early and Robert Meachem (25) and TE Henry Childs (27) to take over eighth place in that category.

So far in 2023, Kamara has 60 catches for 413 receiving yards and a touchdown. He leads all NFL running backs in all three categories. Kamara has averaged more than 625 yards in his first six seasons and had at least 81 catches in each of his first four years.

Team accomplishments are far more important than individual accolades. Unfortunately, Alvin Kamara has been one of the few bright spots on a 5-7 New Orleans team this season. Nevertheless, Kamara has already cemented his place among the greats in franchise history with more to come.
