The Kansas City Chiefs have made a single practice squad elevation ahead of their Super Bowl LVIII tilt against the San Francisco 49ers.

In an expected move, the Chiefs have elevated DT Mike Pennel from the practice squad. This marks the fourth consecutive game that Pennel has been promoted from the practice squad. It's also the seventh time he's been elevated during the 2023 NFL season.

Remember, practice squad elevations reset for the postseason, and they're uncapped. During the regular season, players can only be promoted via standard elevation three times.

Surprisingly, Pennel is the only practice squad promotion for Kansas City.

Mike "The Beast" Pennel to play in third Super Bowl for Kansas City

Pennel re-signed to the Chiefs' practice in October and has been a major depth piece for the team. He's been accommodating during this playoff run with Derrick Nnadi suffering an injury that required him to be placed on injured reserve. He's the big run-stuffing presence that the team needs in the middle of the field, but he's quietly an impactful pass rusher as well.

The 32-year-old has played 176 postseason snaps across six playoff games with the Chiefs throughout his NFL career. He appeared in both Super Bowl LIV and Super Bowl LV as a pivotal part of Steve Spagnuolo's defensive front. He's perhaps best remembered for his pass batted and his pressure that led to a Jimmy Garapollo interception in Super Bowl LIV vs. the 49ers.
