The Kansas City Chiefs don’t appear to be interested in re-signing left tackle Donovan Smith, which could potentially leave a hole on that side of the line if Wanya Morris can’t step up.

That’s why it’s not surprising that Nick Pedone of Pro Football Network lists former Green Bay Packers star tackle David Bakhtiari as a potential fit for the Chiefs.

Bakhtiari was released by Green Bay earlier this month, ending his 11-year run with the club.

The 32-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Colorado, was selected by the Packers in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He was immediately named a starter during his rookie campaign and went on to develop into one of the best offensive linemen in football.

However, Bakhtiari did not really begin to start getting recognition until his fourth season, when he made his first Pro Bowl appearance.

Overall, the San Mateo, Ca. native proceeded to make three trips to the Pro Bowl in Green Bay while also earning a couple of First-Team All-Pro selections.

Unfortunately, over the last several years, Bakhtiari has been ravaged by injuries.

Since 2021, he has played in a grand total of 13 games, and 11 of those contests came in 2022. A knee injury sidelined him for all but one game this past season.

Going back even further, Bakhtiari has not played a full campaign since 2019.

Bakhtiari is obviously an injury risk, but on a cheap one-year deal, he definitely brings some significant upside. Perhaps the Chiefs will take a look at him.
