Even though the Kansas City Chiefs are going for a three-peat, they have quite a few holes they need to fill. Believe it or not, one of those was in the best position room on the team, or the most clear, I should say.

Patrick Mahomes is undoubtedly the best player in the game, which means he is also the best quarterback. However, he didn't have a backup at the moment. Following the 2022 NFL season, when Chiefs legend Chad Henne retired, Kansas City needed a new QB2.

In 2023, they brought in Blaine Gabbert, but they also considered a few other players at the position. After not bringing Gabbert back this offseason, they are going with one of the other guys this time.

According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, the Kansas City Chiefs are signing former Super Bowl champion Carson Wentz, who has played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, Washington Commanders, and the Los Angeles Rams Wentz, last offseason, was favored to sign with the Chiefs before signing with the Rams.

When he won a Super Bowl with Philly, he clearly led the MVP race before he tore his ACL. Since then, he has never been able to quite regain the success and skill he once had, which is fine. However, now he will make for the perfect backup behind Patrick Mahomes.
