Kenny Pickett has one goal in 2023

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett doesn't have a list of goals that he writes down before the start of the season. However, there is one accomplishment he is hoping to achieve in 2023.

"If you win a championship, I guarantee 80 percent of the starters get the goals that they have set for themselves," Pickett said on Pittsburgh's 93.7 The Fan. "I'm definitely just Super Bowl. That's really it. If you're in the Super Bowl and win it, I think all the goals you've ever had set are all pretty much going to be met."

It's a lofty aspiration for a team that missed the playoffs a year ago, but anything is possible.

Although, much of the Steelers' success in 2023 will likely ride on the shoulders of Pickett. If he can take a leap in year two, which Pro Football Focus believes he will by naming him a "breakout candidate," Pittsburgh could be a dark horse in the race to the Super Bowl.

The Steelers have certainly done their best to build around Pickett through free agency and the draft this offseason. Pittsburgh strengthened its offensive line with the additions of tackle Broderick Jones and guard Isaac Seumalo and gave the second-year quarterback a couple more weapons in WR Allen Robinson II and TE Darnell Washington.

Pickett helped lead the Steelers to 9-8 after beginning the 2022 season 2-6. If the Steelers can pick up right where they left off, they could certainly surprise some teams in 2023.
