Former Penn State quarterback Kerry Collins will serve as an honorary captain for Saturday's Peach Bowl between the Nittany Lions and Ole Miss. The Rebels' honorary captain is former All-America wide receiver Donte Moncrief.

Collins, who was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2018, remains Penn State's highest-drafted quarterback in program history. Selected No. 5 overall in the 1995, Collins led Penn State football to its last unbeaten season in 1994. The Nittany Lions went 12-0, defeating Oregon in the Rose Bowl, and finished No. 2 in the final AP rankings.

Collins guided the most prolific offense in Penn State history in 1994, one that averaged 47.8 points and 520.2 yards per game. The Lions averaged 269.3 yards passing per game in 1994, when Collins was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. Collins set nine school records in 1994, led the nation in passer rating (172.9) and led the Big Ten in passing and pass efficiency. Collins still holds Penn State records for career completion percentage (66.7) and single-season pass efficiency.

The Carolina Panthers selected Collins in the first round of the 1995 draft. Collins played 17 NFL seasons, making two Pro Bowls.

For Ole Miss, Moncrief caught 20 touchdown passes in his career, including 10 as a sophomore. The receiver still holds Ole Miss records for receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns.

Penn State plays Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 30 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Kickoff is at noon on ESPN.
