The Falcons handed out the largest free agent contract of the NFL offseason with a $180 million deal to bring Kirk Cousins to Atlanta.

It solidified the club’s most glaring roster hole and immediately made Raheem Morris’ team the favorites in the NFC South. The veteran signal caller is expected to be a tremendous upgrade for the Falcons, and he’s hit the ground running.

Cousins’ intentions are clear too — stay in Atlanta and win.

“I want this to be my final stop,” he told Shaquille O’Neal. “I don’t wanna do the deal — no offense, but I don’t wanna go play for the Suns and Celtics at the end. I wanna finish with the Heat, if you will, and be done.”

Cousins has already arrived in Flowery Branch for the new staff’s first meetings with the team. The Falcons are going through workout programs right now, but it’s a valuable opportunity to cultivate relationships, which apparently Kirk Cousins is already doing, taking to Twitter/X to reveal that his teammates have already told him that he gives off serious dad vibes.

This is nothing new. Kirk Cousins has been heralded off the field for his frugal, normal life, which became more widespread when he appeared on Netflix’s series Quarterback.

The Falcons know what they are going to get out of their most recent lucrative investment. This isn’t some risky proposition like Desmond Ridder. Kirk Cousins is a proven commodity. His ceiling may not be that of a Super Bowl champion, but we know what his floor is, and it’s a postseason berth, which is better than what the Falcons have had in years.
