Kurt Warner solves the Justin Fields dilemma for the Bears

The Chicago Bears have a massive decision regarding who will be the franchise's quarterback now and in the years ahead. While there's no easy answer, Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner provided a solution by asking a simple question.

"Has he proven to me that he's a franchise quarterback?" Warner said on "The Rich Eisen Show."

Warner continued by saying that if the answer is unclear, it's no.

"Unless you know without a shadow of a doubt that Justin Fields is that guy, I believe you have to go the other route," Warner said. "Because now it's still speculation, and it's still the fact that we're going to have to pay him a big-dollar deal whether he's proven that to us or not, and so, I feel there's only one way to go in this if the answer to your question is 'he hasn't proven it yet.'"

Selected 11th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, Fields has displayed the qualities of a franchise quarterback, but consistency has always been an issue.

There's lots of context to consider, such as Fields having to work under two different head coaches and offensive coordinators in three seasons. Yet, those reasons alone might be enough to decide to move on.

Keeping Fields while also drafting a quarterback No. 1 is a possibility and one the Bears have discussed. However, it's hard to imagine that scenario bringing many positives to Fields or his successor.

Regarding potential destinations for Fields, the Pittsburgh Steelers are one team rumored to be interested in making a deal, especially after cutting QB Mitchell Trubisky recently. In fact, the Steelers are the betting favorite to land Fields in a trade.
