Larry Fitzgerald hopes 'everything works out' between QB Kyler Murray, Cardinals

Future Hall of Fame wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald earned all 11 of his Pro Bowl nods playing for the Arizona Cardinals throughout his legendary career and had quarterback Kyler Murray as a teammate in 2019 and 2020 before unofficially stepping away from the game as an active player ahead of the 2021 season. Thus, it's understandable some would believe Fitzgerald may have some inside information on why Murray curiously scrubbed his social media accounts of any mention of the Cardinals and also unfollowed his current employer.

Per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN, Fitzgerald was asked about the potential controversy during Tuesday's appearance at the R.S. Hoyt Jr. Family Foundation Dream Day at the WM Phoenix Open and offered little in his remarks outside of best wishes for both parties.

"I haven't talked to Kyler in a while, but he looked good in the Pro Bowl, looked like he was having a great time, throwing touchdowns out there," Fitzgerald said. "I just hope everything works out the way both sides want it to work out. That's really what it's all about for me. I love Kyler, I love the Cardinals and I want the best for everybody."

Murray's rookie contract runs through the 2022 campaign and carries a fifth-year option for 2023, and he's set to earn slightly more than $5.4 million for next season. Some have speculated the 24-year-old wants to put pen to paper on what he feels is a deserved extension this offseason, but Weinfuss notes Murray's latest social-media activities could merely be part of some personal "rebrand."
