The Las Vegas Raiders are kicking the tires on a possible replacement for Josh Jacobs, hosting Alexander Mattison for an NFL free-agency visit.

News of Alexander Mattison’s visit was first reported by Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz.

Mattison, 25, saw the most significant workload of his career during the 2023 season while rushing for a career-high 700 yards.

The Raiders have a significant need to fill at running back, after allowing Jacobs to walk via free agency and ultimately sign with the Green Bay Packers.

Through the first five seasons of his career, all in a Vikings uniform, Mattison has averaged 4.1 yards per carry while rushing for 2,370 yards and 11 touchdowns. Alexander Mattison has also logged 100 receptions for 718 yards and six touchdowns.

The Las Vegas Raiders are looking to close the gap on the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West, and Mattison’s versatility could create opportunities to attack defenses in multiple ways.

What Las Vegas Raiders Need in a RB

Mattison’s versatility could make him an ideal fit for the Las Vegas Raiders, after signing Gardner Minshew who arrives following a successful season with the Indianapolis Colts who frequently deploy their backs out of the backfield as pass-catchers.

Meanwhile, whoever winds up replacing Jacobs is going to have big shoes to fill.

Jacobs is just one season removed from winning the rushing title and produced 5,545 yards with 46 touchdowns through his five seasons in a Las Vegas Raiders uniform.
