The Houston Texans had already ruled out veteran wide receiver and team captain, Robert Woods, ahead of the Week 8 showdown with the Carolina Panthers. Now, he's expected to miss 2-3 weeks, per ESPN 's Adam Schefter.
Woods is easily the Texans' most experienced receiver. He's been a big help for the younger guys in Nico Collins and Tank Dell, which has allowed the two youngsters to have a lot of success through the first six games of the season. It'll be interesting to see how those two pick up Woods' production and it'll be interesting to see if anyone else steps up during his absence.
It'll be really interesting to see who the Texans plug into the slot. They have a few options in John Metchie III, Dalton Schultz, and Noah Brown. My guess is we'll see an uptick in slot snaps for Schultz, with Metchie and Brown mixing in, as well.
Woods signed a two-year, $15.250 million deal back in the offseason. He is currently second on the team with 22 receptions and his 227 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown rank third and fourth, respectively, among his teammates. He is also one of the seven team captains for 2023.
