One of the biggest questions ahead of free agency is what will happen with Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard.

A year after receiving the franchise tag, Pollard is now trending toward becoming a free agent next week, which will allow him to test the market and field offers from across the league.

Fortunately for the Cowboys though, it's starting to sound sounding as if Pollard could make things real easy on them to secure a reunion with America's Team.

"A person with knowledge of Pollard’s thinking told The Dallas Morning News the former fourth-round pick is open to returning, even if the contract from another team is slightly higher than the Cowboys’ offer," reported Calvin Watkins on Wednesday.

The Cowboys likely understand that they have some serious leverage in this particular negotiation. Prices for running backs keep going down and this year's free agency class includes Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, among many other Tier 2 and Tier 3 backs that could sign for cheaper deals while providing very solid production.

Additionally, this year's rookie class is expected to see many RBs taken off the board between rounds two and three of the 2024 NFL Draft.

In other words, the Cowboys have options when it comes to rebuilding the RB room. The question is how low does Pollard's price need to be for Stephen Jones and company to be interested in running it back. If there's one thing we know about the Jones though is that they love themselves a bargain signing. Pollard is already setting the table for one.

A to Z Sports projects Pollard to sign a deal worth $7.5 million per year.
