There's been a mix-up with the Atlanta Falcons linebacker corps as of late, but one player has quietly flown under the radar with a solid training camp so far.

Tae Davis, who signed with the Falcons back in March after a year with the Cleveland Browns, is impressing and carving out a role for himself in a crowded linebacker group.

“You feel Tae out there," coach Arthur Smith said. "Certainly, you could feel him in the game Friday night. You feel him on fourth down. I think he’s made a lot of improvements on the defensive side too. He’s had a pretty good camp but you certainly felt him the other night.”

Davis' presence was certainly felt in the Falcons' preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins, where he recorded six tackles (one for loss) in Atlanta's win. He trailed only seventh-round rookie Demarcco Hellams for the team lead in tackles.

Davis still has yet to solidify a spot on the 53-man roster, but if he continues this upward trajectory in the second half of training camp, he'll play a key role for the Falcons during the regular season.

Davis will have another chance to prove himself Friday when the Falcons host the Cincinnati Bengals. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
