Entering the 2024 season, the Dallas Cowboys carry familiar aspirations, ones that have echoed season after season – aspirations of hoisting the Super Bowl trophy, a feat that has eluded them since the mid-90s.

Yet, this year feels particularly pivotal, laden with intensified pressure, as it marks the culmination of quarterback Dak Prescott’s current contract.

Within NFL circles, voices advocating for Dallas to secure Prescott’s services resonate. Notable among them is former Super Bowl-winning head coach Brian Billick.

However, looming over the franchise is the looming decision: Will owner and GM Jerry Jones opt for continuity with Prescott, or chart a new course?

Billick spoke out and revealed his bold take on the situation and told the Cowboys what they need to do with Prescott.

“Give him the money…What’s the alternative.”

Should Jones lean towards parting ways with Prescott, the imperative arises to identify a quarterback of the future, whether through the current draft or by entrusting the reins to promising young quarterback Trey Lance, alongside head coach Mike McCarthy.

Yet, Prescott’s merits are undeniable.

Fresh off a stellar NFL season, marked by career-high completions and touchdowns, the All-Pro quarterback embodies experience, having weathered only a single losing season in his tenure. Under his stewardship, the Dallas Cowboys find themselves poised for sustained contention within the NFC.

Nevertheless, doubts linger. Prescott’s playoff record, standing at 2-5 as a starter, underscores a lingering uncertainty surrounding his postseason efficacy. Dallas finds itself at a crossroads, necessitating a swift resolution to its quarterback quandary.

The clock ticks, urging the Cowboys to make a definitive choice, one that will shape the trajectory of the franchise in the seasons to come.
