The Seattle Seahawks and new head coach Mike Macdonald landed a "home-run" hire on Friday with the addition of former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, who will be the assistant head coach in Seattle.

A veteran with nearly 25 years of coaching experience in the NFL, Frazier will likely provide Macdonald with tons of valuable insight, as the two defensive-minded coaches look to put their heads together to improve a defense that struggled this past season.

CBS Sports NFL insider Josina Anderson spoke with Frazier about his decision to join the Seahawks, and he kept his reasons simple.

"When I asked Leslie why he chose Seattle, he said the difference was 'Mike (Macdonald)," Anderson tweeted. "'Mike was my quality control coach when I was in Baltimore.' Leslie then ended the call so he could send in his contract."

Frazier spent the 2016 season with Macdonald as a secondary coach in Baltimore before moving on to Buffalo.

According to Anderson, Frazier was asked by four other unknown teams that just hired new head coaches to fill the same role he's taking on in Seattle.

"I just spoke directly to Leslie Frazier. He told me within the hour he’s decided to accept the offer from the Seahawks to be their next assistant head coach," Anderson wrote. "Leslie told me on the phone that today 4 teams stepped up efforts to pursue him for the exact same role to help their new head coaches."

The Seahawks will now hope that the addition of Frazier alongside Macdonald will help the franchise turn things around sooner rather than later.
