Former Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey is one win away from hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, as he and the San Francisco 49ers are set to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in a rematch of the 2020 Super Bowl.

McCaffrey was a key factor in San Francisco's NFC Championship comeback win over the Detroit Lions this past Sunday, as he powered in two scores, while totaling 132 yards as San Francisco came back from down 24-7 at halftime.

However, while winning the Super Bowl would mark his first championship, it would also make some history with his father and fellow former Stanford star, Ed McCaffrey.

The elder McCaffrey was a part of three Super Bowl-winning teams during his career, one with the 49ers and two with the Denver Broncos. If Christian and this year's squad can avenge their 2020 loss, he and his father would be just the second father-son duo in NFL history to win a Super Bowl with the same franchise according to ESPN.

While both being NFL Stars, the McCaffrey duo also both excelled at Stanford where Ed was a first-team All-American in 1990, and Christian was a two-time first-team All-American(2015/2016), Heisman runner-up (2015), and Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year (2015). The younger McCaffrey also earned AP College Football Player of the Year.

This NFL Season, he has made history a few times as he tied Lenny Moore with the most consecutive games with a touchdown (17). He also was the first 49ers player since the 1950s to win the NFL Rushing title and also tied Marshall Faulk for the most games in a career with a receiving and rushing touchdown

According to ESPN, San Francisco is favored by 1.5 points and has a 59.4% chance of winning the title.
