Lions GM: We're definitely open to trading No. 2 draft pick

Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes wants it to be known that the team is willing to part with the No. 2 pick of the 2022 NFL Draft for the right price.

"I’m never scared to move around, so we’re definitely open for business, always," Holmes said when asked about the possibility of trading the second overall pick by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Holmes, 42, became the Lions' general manager in January 2021 and wasted no time showing he's willing to make a big move. Before the end of his first month on the job, Holmes sent quarterback Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for quarterback Jared Goff, a 2021 third-round pick and first-round picks in 2022 and 2023.

The Lions stayed put on draft day, though, and didn't make any pick swaps until the third day of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Detroit was winless through the first 11 games of the 2021 season before winning in three of the last six weeks to finish 3-13-1. The Lions are set to pick second behind the Jacksonville Jaguars and will also own either the 31st or 32nd pick, depending on the result of the Rams' Super Bowl matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
