The Detroit Lions struggled with injuries the early portion of the 2022 season.

"No, I don’t feel like it’s something that we did different," said head coach Dan Campbell, when asked about the number of injuries impacting his team in early October. "I mean, I don’t feel like it’s because of the way that we went about stuff. And, I think things happen in this game. I mean, some teams they don’t -- they don’t put everybody on these injury reports. Some of them will practice, they don’t practice. So, I’m just trying to be open and put everybody on here (injury reports)."

Luckily, the team ended the season much healthier. The final 10 games of the season saw the Lions produce an 8-2 record.

According to multiple reports, the Lions have added Brett Fischer to the medical staff.

"First and foremost, I want to thank God from whom all blessings flow. I would also like to thank Michael Bidwell and the Arizona Cardinals for giving me the opportunity the past 15 seasons," Fischer said in a statement, via reporter Mike Jurecki

Fischer continues, "I want to say that I am honored and proud to announce that I have been named the new Director of Player Health and Performance for the Detroit Lions."

Fischer is widely respected around the NFL and could aid the Lions moving forward with player health and safety.

"Had someone I respect just text to say this was a huge get for the Lions, that Fischer is extremely respected around the league," Free Press beat writer Dave Birkett posted on Twitter about the hire. "Injuries are inevitable in the NFL, but maybe this helps keep the Lions on the right side of the ledger."
