Lions' Jared Goff joins Tom Brady, Peyton Manning as only QBs to do this

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff did something in the Lions' divisional-round victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that only Tom Brady and Hall of Famer Peyton Manning accomplished before.

According to John Breech of CBS Sports, the former Los Angeles Rams star became the third QB to post 14 wins for multiple franchises.

He can make more history if the Lions upset the 49ers in San Francisco in the NFC Championship Game, becoming the fifth QB to lead multiple franchises to the Super Bowl. The other QBs who did this are Brady, Manning, Kurt Warner and Craig Morton.

As of Monday, FanDuel lists the Lions as a seven-point underdog. Still, Goff claims the team's confidence remains high.

"I don't want to say this arrogantly, but we expected to win the first game (in the wild-card round against the Los Angeles Rams), we expected to win this game," Goff said postgame, via ESPN's Eric Woodyard. "And now we get to go to a game we expected to be in against a really good team at their place — and we're going to come into it expecting to win. It'll be a tough game, but it'll be fun."

Goff might rise to the occasion again. This postseason, he's second in passing yards (564), third in passer rating (111.8) and tied for fourth in passing TDs (three). San Francisco is 13th in the league in passing yards allowed (213.1).

Regardless, the former No. 1 overall pick has salvaged his career. In 2021, the Rams dealt Goff to Detroit, and he went 3-13-1. Now, he's on the verge of leading the franchise to its first Super Bowl appearance, capping off one of the best turnarounds in NFL history.
