Lions QB Jared Goff expects huge season from this rising star

At a recent news conference, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson shared a text from QB Jared Goff predicting wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown will have a huge year.

The players worked out together several times during the summer in California. St. Brown posted a video of Goff hitting St. Brown with his eyes closed to show how in sync the two are.

Goff witnessed the ascension of Cooper Kupp, one of the league's top receivers, when the two played for the Los Angeles Rams. Goff has favorably compared the receivers. Both have the rare ability to be the No. 1 receiver playing in the slot, a role primarily known for wide receivers who play on the outside.

Kupp had solid seasons in his first two years playing with Goff, totaling 869 receiving yards in 16 games in 2017 and 566 in eight games in a injury-marred season the following year. Then, in his third season, he had a breakout season with 1,161 yards receiving.

In 2021, St. Brown had 912 yards receiving and a team rookie record 90 catches playing with Goff. In a strange coincidence in 2022, St. Brown registered his first 1,000-yard season (1,161), matching Kupp's third season.

St. Brown is dominating at training camp and causing significant problems for the defense. Goff and St. Brown put up six touchdowns during a single practice session, leaving a lasting impression on the local media.

St. Brown recently earned a spot on the 2023 NFL Top 100 list (No.67) as voted on by players.
