Detroit Lions fans have been letting their team know just how grateful they are for the Lions’ newfound postseason success.

Lions running back David Montgomery had a wholesome encounter with a fan just days after the team’s 24-23 win over the Los Angeles Rams to advance to the divisional round.

Montgomery was pumping gas earlier this week when a woman approached him “in tears” just to express her gratitude for the one-point win. The Iowa State alum embraced her and thanked her right back for believing in the team.

“You take a wide spectrum,” said Montgomery, via Will Burchfield of 97.1 The Ticket. “You take a step back at all of the problems and things that people go through at home, it’s cold out there, it’s a lot of people ain’t got homes, and I’m pumping gas in a nice car and we just won a game and she’s crying telling me ‘thank you.'”

Fans on X couldn’t help but shed a virtual tear after reading the story.

Montgomery was the Lions’ leading rusher on Sunday with 57 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.

Montgomery led the Lions in rushing yards (1,015) and touchdowns (13) during the regular season.
