The Detroit Lions made some moves on Tuesday, but they apparently weren't done for the week. On Thursday they released guard Michael Schofield from the practice squad and signed cornerback Craig James to that open spot.

The addition of James makes a lot of sense with Jerry Jacobs suffering a hamstring injury against the Broncos and then missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday. Jacobs was moved out of the starting lineup and on to special teams for that game. With him out, there's an opening and James is a guy that has history with Lions special teams coach Dave Fipp. They were in Philadelphia together.

James went undrafted in 2018 and has spent time with the Vikings, Jets and Eagles. He's played 23 regular season games and has one start under his belt. He's a good candidate to be elevated from the practice squad on Sunday to help out on special teams now that Kindle Vildor and Khalil Dorsey have taken over for Jacobs in the cornerback two realm.

As for Schofield, it never really worked out for him. He was elevated once and didn't play a snap in that game. He's head to waivers and if he clears them, he'll be a free agent.
