The Detroit Lions made some news on Wednesday, signing former Pro Bowl corner Desmond Trufant to a  team-friendly two-year deal . At first glance, it seemed Detroit was about to team Trufant up with fellow Pro Bowler Darius Slay.

Not so fast.

Slay took to Twitter to congratulate Trufant on the contract. He also doubled down on his trade request.

Lions general manager Bob Quinn recently noted that the team is currently looking to trade the three-time Pro Bowler. It’s apparently not happening quick enough for Mr. Slay.

A second-round pick out of Mississippi State back in 2013, the 29-year-old Slay remains one of the top cover corners in the NFL. In fact, he’s recorded 56 passes defended and 13 interceptions over the past three seasons.

Whether Slay’s tweet moves up a timeline for a trade remains to be seen. But I wouldn’t bank on it.
