Longtime Bills radio broadcaster suffers stroke

The 67-year-old has served as the play-by-play announcer for the Buffalo Bills Radio Network since the 2004 season and has worked alongside Buffalo's former seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Steve Tasker among others. Murphy currently shares the booth with former Bills Pro Bowl center Eric Wood.

Murphy has also worked as a commentator with the minor league baseball Buffalo Bisons and various colleges and universities in the Western New York area.

The news comes as "Bills Mafia" is still closely monitoring reports surrounding safety Damar Hamlin's condition, following his cardiac arrest on Monday. The 24-year-old collapsed on the field after making a tackle during the team's Week 17 "Monday Night Football" game against the Cincinnati Bengals and has been at the UC Medical Center since then.

Hamlin has shown "remarkable improvement" in recent days, and it was recently reported that he had his breathing tube removed on Thursday night and he's been able to talk to doctors, family, and his teammates.

Football fans in Western New York and beyond will surely have both Hamlin and Murphy on their minds come Week 18 and once the playoffs kick-off.
