With the start of the NFL regular season only 10 weeks away, betting on “overs” and “unders” can be a fun and profitable endeavor.

Our first selection will lead us to the NFC South which should be dominated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At the other end of the spectrum are the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers, teams that are rebuilding. That leaves the New Orleans Saints as the team in the division which offers the best value when it comes to predicting how many wins they will garner in 2022.

Currently, the over/under for the Saints is 8. A year ago they finished 9-8. They were 5-2 when quarterback Jameis Winston went down with a season-ending knee injury.

With a 17-game schedule, a winning record by the Saints would yield a winning ticket if you choose to bet over 8.

Within the division, New Orleans should have a solid if not sizable advantage over the rebuilding Falcons and Panthers. Amazingly, the Saints have swept the regular-season series against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers the last two seasons. New Head Coach Dennis Allen served as the team’s Defensive Coordinator those two seasons and seems to have a viable game plan to frustrate the Buccaneers’ high-powered offense.

In addition to their six divisional games, the Saints will play four games against the NFC West, and four against the AFC Central. To round out their schedule, New Orleans will face the Vikings, Raiders, and Eagles.

With NFC teams having nine home games this season, that gives us yet an additional edge in favoring OVER 8 for the New Orleans Saints in 2022.

A still talented defense coupled with the return of Winston and elite Wide Receiver Michael Thomas should allow the Saints to contend for, at worst, a wildcard berth in the NFC. Logically, OVER 8 is the choice.
