The Los Angeles Chargers saw a resurgence under new head coach Jim Harbaugh. After picking in the top five last year, this team made the playoffs and is finally looking to make a deep playoff run. Last year’s draft was a success, with Joe Alt and Ladd McConkey being two of the best rookies in the class. Another stellar draft class could set this team up for success over the next five years. Here is the 2025 NFL Draft preview for the Los Angeles Chargers.

Los Angeles Chargers 2025 NFL Draft Picks

The Los Angeles Chargers have ten draft picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

  • Round 1: No. 22
  • Round 2: No. 55
  • Round 3: No. 86
  • Round 4: No. 125
  • Round 5: No. 158
  • Round 6: No. 181 (from Patriots)
  • Round 6: No. 199
  • Round 6: No. 209 (Compensatory Selection)
  • Round 6: No. 214 (Compensatory Selection)
  • Round 7: No. 256 (Compensatory Selection)

The Los Angeles Chargers have double-digit picks, though only three in the top 100. Their last three picks are all compensatory, and they have a whopping four picks in the sixth round. This gives them plenty of ammo to make some small moves or sit back and stock up the roster with young talent.

Team Needs

The Los Angeles Chargers have plenty of needs throughout the roster. They went all-in with Brandon Staley but failed to make any significant postseason run. The team is now trying to recover while also taking advantage of Justin Herbert’s prime. One desperate need for this team is inside offensive linemen. They have great tackles but need some dominating interior linemen to be able to run the ball effectively.

Defensively, the line needs some work, as they lost some depth in the offseason. In the Super Bowl, the Eagles showed how to disrupt Patrick Mahomes. If the Los Angeles Chargers can get a solid pass rush, they could compete for the division. The back end of the defense could also use an upgrade. They have multiple needs in the secondary, especially at safety.

Mock Draft

  • Round 1: No. 22: Kenneth Grant DL Michigan
  • Round 2: No. 55: Trey Amos CB Ole Miss
  • Round 3: No. 86: Jared Wilson IOL Georgia
  • Round 4: No. 125: Kyle Kennard Edge South Carolina
  • Round 5: No. 158: Damien Martinez RB Miami
  • Round 6: No. 181: Malachi Moore S Alabama
  • Round 6: No. 199: Mitchell Evans TE Notre Dame
  • Round 6: No. 209: Kobe King LB Penn State
  • Round 6: No. 214: Jake Majors IOL Texas
  • Round 7: No. 256: Donovan Edwards RB Michigan

Mock Draft Analysis

I like that one of the top tight ends didn’t fall to the Los Angeles Chargers in this mock draft. Michigan tight end Colston Loveland has been heavily mocked to the team, but I don’t think that’s the best option. Grant is a solid interior lineman, and getting Amos in the second round is another quality pick. Harbaugh fortifies both lines in the third and fourth round before having some fun in the later rounds.

Moore didn’t have the greatest season for the Crimson Tide, but with the right coaching, he could turn into a quality player. I do have them picking a tight end, and I like spending a sixth-round pick rather than a first-round pick on a position that isn’t seen as a premier position in the NFL. I couldn’t resist the last pick. Harbaugh won a national championship, thanks to Edwards. He absolutely would use the second-to-last pick in the draft to get him on the team.

Final Thoughts

The Los Angeles Chargers are a team to watch this year. Many believe Kansas City hasn’t improved this offseason. Harbaugh has proven he can effectively build a program. With another great draft, this team could become the new kings of the AFC West.
