On Monday, Sharp Football Analysis released its strength of schedule breakdown and as their findings point out, the Los Angeles Chargers will benefit from playing the weakest slate of opponents in the AFC and the second easiest in the NFL, behind only the Atlanta Falcons.

Los Angeles Chargers Schedule

As a reminder here are the teams the Chargers will be playing in the upcoming 2024 season:

Home:

  • AFC North: Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals
  • NFC South: New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • AFC South: Tennessee Titans
  • AFC West: Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, and Las Vegas Raiders

Away:

  • AFC West: Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, and Las Vegas Raiders
  • AFC North: Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers
  • NFC South: Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers
  • AFC East: New England Patriots
  • NFC West: Arizona Cardinals

The Chargers 2024 Expectations

The Chargers over/under win total was set at 8.5 wins and the current odds are set -160 for the Chargers to hit the over with a 61.5 percent probability. According to Sharp’s modeling, they expected to win 8.9 games in 2024.

This is encouraging because on its face the Chargers schedule has some challenging aspects. First and foremost, they are playing the Chiefs, who the team has lost to five straight games and lost six of eight meetings in the Justin Herbert Era. They will also face an additional away game in 2024.

But they will also face nine games against opponents that finished last season below .500
